Job Description
*Job Summary*
This is a part-time job, 2 days a week. Wednesday from 10:00AM to 7:00PM and Friday from 8:00AM to 5:00PM.
The Sterilization Technician plays a crucial role in maintaining a safe and hygienic environment within healthcare settings. This position is responsible for the cleaning, sterilization, and preparation of medical instruments and equipment to ensure compliance with infection control standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical terminology and infection control practices, as well as experience in assisting within various medical fields.
*Duties*
- Clean, disinfect, and sterilize medical instruments and equipment according to established protocols.
- Prepare and package instruments for sterilization, ensuring all items are properly labeled.
- Monitor sterilization processes to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of sterilization cycles and equipment maintenance.
- Assist healthcare professionals by providing necessary instruments during procedures.
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality and privacy.
- Stay updated on the latest infection control practices and protocols.
*Skills*
- Proficient in medical terminology related to various healthcare fields including pediatrics, endodontics, and dental assisting.
- Knowledgeable in infection control procedures to prevent cross-contamination.
- Experience with medical coding is a plus.
- Familiarity with four-handed dentistry techniques is beneficial.
- Ability to use electronic health record systems such as Epic effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with healthcare teams.
