Job Description Summary
An instructor in this position will perform clinical dentistry and provide instruction regarding clinical dentistry for undergraduate dental hygiene and dental assisting students, and local anesthetic delivery for dental hygiene students. This individual must possess the knowledge and skills to teach and supervise students in clinical settings.
Duties
1. Disseminate departmental information to prospective students. 2. Plan and participate in student orientation. 3. Develop/suggest teaching materials, activities and handouts for each course assigned. 4. Participate in assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation activities to improve the instructional quality of the program. 5. Review, critique and evaluate x-rays for students, especially pathology consultation. 6. Provide dental care for a variety of patients within the Dental Assisting Clinic. 7. Supervise students in classroom, lab and clinical environments incorporating knowledge, expertise and flexibility to ensure safety and student learning. 8. Collaborate with departmental personnel in curriculum revisions/updates which reflect changing trends, information and technologies and ensure compliance with the Standards of the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the American Dental Association, the Department of Community Colleges approved standards for the curriculum and the Criteria of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. 9. Abide by policies, standards, goals and objectives of the College and Department 10. Seek opportunities for professional development. 11. Serve as a resource to the dental community and community at large. 12. Perform additional duties as assigned by Department Chairperson.
Minimum Requirements
1. Graduate of an accredited dental program. 2. Minimum of five yearsââ¬â¢ work experience as a clinical dentist. 3. North Carolina Dental License. 4. Current Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider certification. 5. DEA license.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Experience working in a community college environment.

Official transcripts, from an institution accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the US Department of Education are required to be received a minimum of two business weeks before the first day of work. Transcripts outside of the United States, must be accompanied by an evaluation completed by a NACES recognized agency and received by Human Resources at least two weeks prior to the first day of work. Failure to comply may result in revocation of the job offer.
