**Job Description:**
As a Dental Hygienist, you will play a crucial role in our dental practice by conducting initial patient screenings, providing professional teeth cleaning services (including plaque removal), and offering guidance on oral health and preventative care. Your expertise will assist dentists in determining appropriate treatments for various dental conditions, including gum diseases, caries, and periodontitis. Additionally, you will be responsible for handling dental emergencies, ensuring patient comfort during examinations, and educating patients of all ages on proper dental care techniques.
**Responsibilities:**
- Create a comfortable and welcoming environment for patients prior to their examinations.
- Ensure proper sterilization and maintenance of dental instruments.
- Perform thorough mouth screenings and review patients' oral health history.
- Accurately identify and assess conditions such as gingivitis, caries, and periodontitis.
- Safely and effectively clean and protect patients' teeth, including plaque removal and fluoride application.
- Provide hands-on demonstrations of good brushing techniques and oral care practices to patients.
- Give clear post-operative instructions to patients after dental procedures.
- Skillfully take digital X-rays to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Collaborate with dentists to select appropriate treatments, including those for oral cancer.
- Maintain accurate documentation and charts for each patient.
- Monitor and manage dental supplies to ensure smooth operations.
**Skills and Qualifications:**
- Proficiency in using Open Dental software.
- Proven experience as a Dental Hygienist or in a similar role.
- Thorough knowledge of health and safety regulations, including HIPAA compliance.
- Familiarity with the preparation and maintenance of dental equipment.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients and team members.
- A patient, friendly, and compassionate personality to build trust with patients of all ages.
- Strong attention to detail for precise and accurate dental care.
- Physical stamina to meet the demands of the job effectively.
- Diploma in Dental Hygiene from an accredited program.
- Valid license to practice as a Dental Hygienist.
