Summary: Assists Dentist during examination and treatment of patients, administers company policies and regulatory compliance and maintains dental supplies are stocked for procedures. It is essential to be flexible, friendly and work in a team environment. In addition, the Dental Assistant must display excellent communication skills and a commitment to patient care.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
ââ Ensure quality patient service by providing thorough patient care, effective communication, and personal attention in a gentle, caring manner.
ââ Prepare the treatment rooms, patient records, equipment and necessary instruments for dental procedures in accordance with universal safety precautions and other safety standards.
ââ Provide chairside assistance to the Dentist including but not limited to basic and complex restorative, surgical, endodontic, pediatric, emergency and preventive dental treatment procedures.
ââ Take dental impressions.
ââ Record accurate and concise patient/treatment information and clinical notes into dental programs as instructed by Dentist.
ââ Explain to each patient the purpose and process involved in their dental care and reinforce the treatment plan prescribed by the Dentist.
ââ Explain consents in detail, answer patient questions and obtain patient signatures.
ââ Expose quality radiographs; date and label properly.
ââ Perform various laboratory procedures (pouring study models, fabricating bleaching trays, etc.) - not mandatory skills
ââ Maintain sterilization area as clean and organized
ââ Support business goals by utilizing schedules effectively and supporting the practice revenue objectives.
ââ Effectively communicate and develop a strong working relationship with the Dentist and promote teamwork through cooperative and professional behaviors.
ââ Follow OSHA and CDC Guidelines for a clean workplace.
ââ Maintain dental equipment in proper working order.
ââ Conserves dental resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
ââ Ensure operation of dental equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturerââ¬â¢s instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for repairs, maintaining equipment inventories, and evaluating new equipment and techniques.
ââ Responsible for stocking treatment areas.
ââ Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
ââ Conduct work in compliance with Federal, State, and other regulations, (i.e. OSHA, HIPAA, ADA, etc.) and clinic policies and practices.
ââ Other duties may be assigned.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. This individual will double as a personal assistant to the doctor. In this role they should obtain the following qualities:
Schedule meetings and manage calendars
Answer phone calls and emails and take messages
Take accurate and comprehensive notes at meetings
Help with daily time management
Run errands as requested
Plan travel, including flights, accommodation and ground transportation
Coordinate events and speaking engagements
Draft correspondence such as emails and letters
