Job Description
Overview: In collaboration with patients, families (as defined by the patient) and staff across all disciplines and department is responsible for providing support to all dental teams, ensuring smooth operations and delivering excellent patient care, including but not limited to activities and chair-side assistance to the dentist in a clinical and/or outpatient surgical center setting. Responsibilities: Performs all Registered Dental Assistant and Surgical Dental Assistant job duties as assigned in addition to the following: Works closely with dental administrative team to create and implement Registered Dental Assistant schedules. Manages dental supply ordering for site(s) assigned and/or may delegate the task of producing the dental supply needs for the order to be placed for each site. Closely collaborates with dental vendors regarding the reporting of maintenance of dental equipment for repairs, coordination of repairs, and reporting of completed repairs to leadership, as well as maintaining the preventive maintenance schedules and reports. Maintains accurate, up-to-date compliance and maintenance logs with the ability to speak on these requirements. Collaborates with dental administration regarding interviewing and scoring registered dental assistant candidates in the hiring process. Assists with coverage needs at any assigned site in collaboration with other dental leads and administration. Mentors and reviews onboarding registered dental assistant new hires for site(s) assigned. Conducts annual infection control and sterilization competencies as a reviewer, completes necessary documentation for completion, and communicates results. Manages content creation, coordination, and planning of people first activities for the registered dental assistants and the dental team of the site(s) as directed by supervisor. The surgical dental assistant lead is required to cross-check all dental emergency equipment and protocols, including but not limited to completion of dental surgical notes and surgical stats for each surgery. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent - Required Completion of an accredited course in dental assisting - Required Experience: 5 years in a dental assisting surgical setting - Preferred Licenses/Certifications: Unrestricted Texas State Board of Dental Examiners Registered Dental Assistant License - Required (Upon Hire) Current Healthcare provider Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course completion care obtained through approved American Heart Association or American Red Cross - Required (Upon Hire) Nitrous Oxide Monitoring and Certification - Required (Upon Hire) Outpatient Hospital or Surgical Center credentialing privileges - Required (Upon Hire) Surgical Certification - Preferred
