Specific job responsibilities of our Dental Hygienists include, but are not limited to:
Perform dental hygiene services and procedures, including dental prophylaxis, scaling and root planing, application of fluoride and sealants
Detect disease by completing oral cancer screening; feeling and visually examining gums, using probes to locate periodontal disease and to assess levels of recession
Selection of materials and equipment for dental hygiene visit by evaluating patientâs oral health
Educate patients by giving oral hygiene and plaque control instructions and postoperative instructions
Document dental hygiene services by recording vital signs, medical and dental histories, and charting in patient charts
Preparation of treatment rooms, ensuring instruments and equipment are sterile
Breakdown of treatment rooms, ensuring all instruments are returned for sterilization promptly
Take x-rays as necessary and as recommended by the ADA
Requirements:
Superior customer service skills, with the ability to infuse personality, empathy, and enthusiasm into each patient contact
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Proven ability to follow outlined policies and guidelines
Possess a professional and positive attitude
Associateâs degree from an accredited dental hygiene program
Valid license to practice in Connecticut (Registered Dental Hygienist, RDH)
