Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive dental cleanings and examinations for patients of all ages, including pediatric patients.
Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventative care, and the importance of regular dental check-ups.
Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) as needed while adhering to safety protocols.
Maintain accurate patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and ensure confidentiality of patient information.
Assist in the implementation of infection control procedures and maintain a sterile working environment using aseptic techniques.
Collaborate with dentists to develop treatment plans based on patient needs and preferences.
Stay current with advancements in dental hygiene practices and participate in continuing education opportunities.
Skills
Strong knowledge of anatomy related to oral health and disease prevention.
Proficiency in infection control protocols and aseptic techniques.
Experience with medical coding related to dental procedures is a plus.
Familiarity with dental assisting duties is beneficial for effective patient care support.
Excellent communication skills to effectively educate patients about their oral health.
Ability to work well within a team environment while maintaining a positive attitude.
Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a busy dental office setting.
