Job Description
The Dental Front Office Assistant performs many tasks requiring both interpersonal and technical skills. Although state regulations vary, responsibilities may include:
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Interaction:
Welcome and escort patients from the reception area in a professional and friendly manner.
Address patient inquiries regarding co-pays, deductibles, and payment collection.
Provide timely responses to dental emergencies, coordinating with staff and emergency personnel as necessary.
Administrative Duties:
Gather and input patient information into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments, including follow-up on missed appointments.
Assist treatment coordinators with treatment plan sequencing and preparing necessary paperwork.
Serve as the point person for medical clearances and SmartSheet management.
Maintain confidentiality by adhering to HIPAA regulations and safeguarding patient information.
Office Organization and Compliance:
Keep workspaces neat and organized.
Notify the Office Manager of equipment issues or safety concerns.
Follow state and federal OSHA laws, infection control, and safety standards.
Participate in office meetings, morning huddles, and chart reviews.
Team Collaboration:
Communicate with the Office Manager about office goals, feedback, and concerns.
Contribute to a positive and professional team environment.
Facility Maintenance:
Assist with cleaning, trash disposal, and reporting maintenance issues through the proper channels.
Other Responsibilities:
Learn and adhere to the Companyâs administrative and operational procedures.
Review and follow the Employee Handbook to maintain consistent standards.
Perform additional delegable duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications:
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism.
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and dental office operations.
Proficiency with EMR systems and scheduling software.
Previous dental office experience preferred but not required.
