Duties and Responsibilities
Welcomes patients and gets them situated in the appropriate treatment room.
Reviews and documents patient health histories including all medications and medical conditions, alerting the doctor to any abnormalities.
Obtains and documents vital signs, alerting the doctor to any abnormalities.
Obtains, documents, and updates dental and general health histories.
Takes and develops x-rays, photos, and CBCTs, uploading results into patient charts.
Performs setup and breakdown of operatory equipment and instruments, adhering to regulatory and compliance standards.
Assists the doctor during various treatments and procedures.
Delivers a positive patient experience and educates patients on oral care.
Assists in daily schedule preparation and patient flow to maintain efficient operations.
Monitors and manages inventory of dental supplies and materials.
Ensures compliance with OSHA standards and other regulatory requirements.
Participates in training and mentoring of new or less experienced dental assistants.
Led the clinical staff in continuous improvement processes.
Maintained a leadership role in ensuring high standards of cleanliness and organization within the dental office.
Resolved issues and contributed to team efforts by completing related results as needed.
Requirements
Previous dental assistant experience required.
Demonstrable experience in dental assistant leadership roles preferred.
Must hold a high school diploma or equivalent; further education or certification in dental assisting favored.
Active Registered Dental Assistant License required.
Proficient in using dental practice software, preferably Open Dental.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and team members.
Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and effectively.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and a commitment to high-quality patient care.
Must be willing to participate in continuous education and training sessions.
Adherence to health and safety regulations, including but not limited to OSHA compliance and sterilization procedures.
