Job Description
QUALIFICATIONS: The LHC Dental Assistant (DA) must have a High School Diploma or GED. Certification as a Dental Assistant (CDA) is required, along with Radiology Certification (in compliance with state requirements) and CPR/BLS certification (or a willingness to obtain). The candidate should have 1-2 years of experience as a Dental Assistant. The Dental Assistant must demonstrate the ability to work with diverse patient populations, including children, and pass a criminal background check. They must have the ability and mobility to perform the physical requirements of the job including standing for extended periods of time, lifting, pulling, or pushing moderate amounts of weight necessary to operate the office and dental equipment, and occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist. They must possess proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, have experience with dental software systems, and demonstrate knowledge of portable intraoral and stationary X-ray devices. May be required to physically assist drowsy patients after anesthesia or administer CPR. Occasional exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals and radiation. JOB SUMMARY: We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant with Radiology Certification to join our growing dental team. The ideal candidate will provide support to the dental team, assist in patient care, manage patient records and ensure smooth clinical operations. This role requires proficiency in radiographic procedures and a commitment to delivering excellent patient care.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepares patients for dental treatments and procedures.
Takes and records medical histories, vital signs, and dental records.
Provides post-operative instructions and support for patient education.
Captures and processes high-quality dental radiographs (X-rays) in compliance with state regulations and safety protocols.
Ensures all radiological equipment is functioning properly and maintained in accordance with safety standards.
Properly store and label X-ray images for dentist review.
Assists the dentist during dental procedures, including exams, fillings, crowns, extractions, and other routine treatments.
Handles instruments, suction devices, dental materials, and medications during procedures.
Maintains cleanliness and organization of the dental operatory and instruments.
Assists in inventory management, ordering supplies, and restocking as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
1-2 years of experience working as a Dental Assistant.
Experience with dental software systems (e.g., Dentrix, Eaglesoft).
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Detail-oriented and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication and patient care skills, with the ability to make patients feel comfortable during procedures.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
The Dental Assistant will function as a team leader/partner and collaborate as part of a treatment team with the LHC medical and behavioral health staff. The Dental Assistant will report directly to the LHC Site Administrator and the Dentist.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
