Job Description

We want you to be a valued part of our excellent Endodontics team!
We are in search of a Lead Dental Assistant who exhibits quality service, commitment, accountability, and excellence.
As a Lead Dental Assistant, you must set an example for the staff by following the guidelines established by the practice. As a clinical supervisor, you should take full control of the clinical department included under the duties and responsibilities below.

Duties and Responsibilities as a Lead DA:
Inventory / Equipment

Inventory / Ordering of dental supplies and emergency/rescue supplies
Maintenance of Equipment and all clinical areas

Become familiar with minor office/equipment repairs
Coordinate repairs in and out of the office
Maintain/coordinate routine equipment maintenance

Report any issues or inadequacies directly to Practice Administrator and/or Doctor


Staff Supervision in partnership with Practice Administrator and Doctor

Arrivals, lunches, and dismissals
Facilitate morning huddles
Uniforms, hygiene & proper PPE
Performance of daily responsibilities including:

Proper patient management
Proper treatment room management and sterilization
Proper records management

Adhering to office protocols and federal/state guidelines
Assist in training and retraining of clinical staff


Guidelines and Regulations set forth by OSHA, BORID, HIPAA, CDC and other federal/state agencies.

Responsibility of daily, weekly and monthly checklists and reporting including:

Daily Emergency Team
Daily Decontamination Schedules
Weekly Emergency Situations
Weekly Spore testing (biological monitoring)
Daily, weekly and monthly checklist

Assign responsibilities to another member of team during vacations or absence from the office.
Take initiative to review these checklists when scheduled in another location.
Report any issues to Practice Administrator or Regional Operations Administrator and doctor


This position is in a dental practice setting that involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Assists Practice Administrator and doctor with delegating tasks and training clinical staff

Required Skills / Abilities

Competency in administering endodontic specific dental x-rays, CBCT, Nitrous Oxide, and sterilization techniques
Working experience with electronic dental record procedures (Procedures such as recording? Documentation?)
Strong interpersonal skills; ability to communicate and work effectively with a diverse range of individuals; customer service skills to ensure positive patient courtesy
Technical skills and proficiency with dental, scheduling, Microsoft office, and other software with a working knowledge of Word and Excel
Dexterity including the ability to handle instruments effectively with both hands


Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent
Dental Assistant diploma/certification from an accredited program
Radiology certificate*
One year of experience in a dental practice; equivalent education and/or experience will be considered
Knowledge of dentistry, particularly dental procedures and terminology, instruments, and hygiene
CPR certification


Preferred Qualifications

Endodontics Experience
N2O certificate*
CBCT experience
Knowledge of head / neck anatomy
Knowledge of dental materials
TDO and/or Endovision software
Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
Problem-solving skills; good judgment; ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision
Work well in a group environment
Highly developed organizational, planning, and communication skills
Proficient typing on a keyboard

Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods of standing
Must be able to lift-up to 15 pounds at times
Visual acuity to read records and documents
