Job Description
Position Overview:
SVT Health & Wellness is seeking a Part-Time or Full-Time Dentist who can commit to working in both Homer and Seldovia. Join our fabulous team in the most beautiful corner of Alaska! Apply today or email Human Resources at tkain@svt.org. or call 907-435-3217.
Schedule may vary, but in general a few days per week in Seldovia and a few days in Homer. Plus vacation fill-in as needed.
Please note: We do not have a non-compete clause in our provider contracts.
This position provides direct primary oral health and preventative oral health care for SVT Health & Wellness Patient Partners in an ambulatory dental clinic within a Community Health Center. Services of complete family dentistry include adult and child dental exams, hygiene visits, pediatric, adult, and geriatric dental treatment, fillings and crowns, root canals, extractions, and walk-in/emergency exams/treatments.
It is the intent of this job description to highlight the essential functions of the position; however, it is not an all-inclusive list. The incumbent may be called upon and required to follow or perform other duties and tasks requested by his/her supervisor, consistent with the purpose of the position, department and/or the Seldovia Village Tribe's objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provide quality, cost-effective dental care to patients within scope of training, capabilities, and licensing
Diagnose oral conditions, evaluate oral health, Interpret x-rays and other diagnostic tests
Continue plans and provide treatment.
Maintain and update dental charts and records in a timely fashion established by SVTHW policy and procedure.
Maintain current Alaska licensing as a Dentist and unrestricted DEA licensing.
Actively promote Seldovia Village Tribeââ¬â¢s services and programs.
Other duties as assigned

Must have good oral and written communication skills
Ability to give clear direction, assert self in a confident manner, and motivate dental staff
Ability to identify and correct conditions that effect employee and/or patient safety
Ability to maintain community relationships to enhance public relations
Maintain CME criteria as defined by license requirements
Job Requirements
Education: DDS or DMD - Required from a dental school accredited by the commission of Dental Accreditation of the ADA
Experience:
1-3 Years experience practicing dentistry
Knowledge and experience working with underserved populations of people, preferred
Experience working with pediatric patients strongly preferred
Certifications/Licensure:
Valid State of Alaska Dental license. If unlicensed in Alaska, must be able to obtain State License within 6 months of date of hire (except for Contractor arrangements, which MUST be currently licensed in Alaska.)
DEA License
CPR/BLS ââ¬â Provided by SVT
Computer Skills:
Proficiency in Mac, PC, and Microsoft Office Products, required.
Electronic Health Record experience, required.
Travel Requirements:
Travel to Seldovia on a small plane or boat is required. Travel is subject to inclement weather.
Employment Requirements:
Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen
Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background check
Must successfully complete credentialing and privileging
Must undergo FBI Fingerprinting
