JOB SUMMARY:
Provide comprehensive dental care to our patients to include examining, diagnosing, and treating dental conditions, injuries, and irregularities of the oral cavity and related tissues. To promote and maintain good oral health among our patients, this will involve not only treating existing dental conditions but also educating individuals about preventive dental care practices. By encouraging regular check-ups and emphasizing proper oral hygiene routines, you will contribute to the long-term well-being of our patients.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
General/Pediatric Dentist
Provide quality dental care to patients according to clinical protocols and funding source guidelines.
Initiate an appropriate assessment of patient's oral health, ranging from focused to comprehensive, depending upon presentation.
Examine, diagnose, and treat dental conditions to provide optimum care to patients.
Consult with the patient, parent, or guardian and advise them of dental status and required treatment.
Educate patients regarding oral conditions, provide treatment options, and explain to the patient, parent, or guardian the risks, benefits, and alternatives of each option.
Treat dental conditions for patients of all ages, and if unable to provide a particular service to a patient, provide the patient with the appropriate specialty referral.
Treat soft or hard tissue diseases of the oral cavity. Perform surgery on oral tissue when necessary and render prosthetic treatment when indicated.
Monitor patients' conditions and progress and reevaluate treatments as necessary.
Collect, record, and maintain patient information, such as dental history, reports, and examination results and prepares reports and correspondence related to the work.
Prescribe medication in accordance with Virginia statue and professional practice guidelines.
Have a working knowledge of dental coding and be available for training as necessary.
Maintain and complete patientsââ¬â¢ dental records or charts legibly, concisely, and close each visit within 48 hours and/or by the end of serviced week.
Be flexible to work between different sites.
Comply with the regulations and policies required of UMT Health Services.
All other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS:
Previous experience in a dental clinic setting.
Ability to relate to culturally diverse patients and communities.
Keep up with CME requirements for Virginia License and Board Certification.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Valid State Dental License.
Hold a valid D.E.A License.
Doctor of Dental Surgery.
Current board certification by American Board of General Dentistry preferred.
Experience working in Dental environment, community health experience preferred.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
