Job Summary: As a Dental Assistant at Cleveland Dental Institute, you will play a crucial role in supporting our dental team and ensuring a smooth, efficient, and pleasant experience for our patients. You will be responsible for a variety of tasks, sterilization, assisting with procedures, and managing administrative duties. This position requires a detail-oriented, compassionate individual who thrives in a collaborative environment and is committed to providing excellent dental care.
Key Responsibilities:
Greet and prepare patients for treatment.
Take and record patient medical histories.
Take and record patient vital signs (BP, PR, etc.)
Assist patients with any questions or concerns before, during, and after procedures.
Educate patients on oral hygiene and post-treatment care.
Assisting with Procedures:
Prepare and sterilize instruments and dental equipment.
Assist the dentist/attending/resident during examinations, cleanings, and other dental procedures.
Expose digital radiographs (X-rays).
Make impressions of patients' teeth for study models.
Administrative Duties:
Schedule and confirm patient appointments.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
Process patient billing and insurance claims (when needed).
Order and manage dental supplies and equipment (when needed).
Office Maintenance:
Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the dental office and treatment areas.
Follow infection control protocols and maintain a sterile environment.
Handle and dispose of dental waste in accordance with regulations.
Collaboration:
Work closely with the dentist and other dental professionals to deliver high-quality patient care.
Participate in continuing education and training to stay current with dental practices and technologies.
Other Duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a dental assistant program preferred.
Certification: Dental Assistant Certification (CDA) or equivalent preferred; CPR certification required.
Experience: Previous experience as a dental assistant is preferred but not required.
Skills:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work well in a team environment.
Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
Proficient in using dental software and office equipment.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and manage time effectively.
Working Conditions:
The role may require standing for extended periods, lifting and moving supplies, and working with various dental tools and equipment.
Work may be performed in a clinical setting with exposure to patients, dental materials, and sterilization procedures.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $16.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
