Job Summary
The Dental Assistant at Bath Family Dentistry is responsible for assisting the dentist during a variety of dental treatments and procedures. The Dental Assistant also plays a key role in managing both clinical and administrative tasks, ensuring the smooth flow of operations while delivering quality personalized patient care. This role is ideal for an adaptable, detail-oriented individual who is comfortable performing a range of responsibilities beyond clinical support.

Key Responsibilities
Chairside Assistance
Assist the dentist during dental procedures, including but not limited to cleanings, fillings, crowns, extractions, and root canals.
Set up treatment rooms, organize instruments, and maintain sterile environments.
Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays).
Ensure patients are comfortable before, during, and after treatments.
Patient Interaction & Education
Greet patients, review medical histories, and make them feel at ease in the dental chair.
Provide postoperative instructions as directed by the dentist.
Educate patients on oral hygiene techniques, care after procedures, and general dental care.
Sterilization and Infection Control
Strictly follow infection control protocols, sterilize instruments, and maintain clean treatment rooms.
Ensure compliance with OSHA and dental industry safety standards.
Administrative and Front Office Support
Handle patient scheduling, both in-person and over the phone.
Manage patient records, updating medical and dental histories accurately.
Process patient billing, assist with insurance verification, and manage claims submissions.
Serve as a liaison between patients and insurance companies, explaining coverage and fees.
Assist with front desk tasks when necessary, including welcoming patients and managing office communications.
Inventory and Supplies Management
Monitor and order dental office supplies, ensuring proper stock levels of materials such as gloves, gauze, instruments, and sterilization items.
Coordinate with vendors for supply orders and manage equipment repairs or maintenance requests.
Social Media & Marketing Support (Optional, depending on practice needs)
Assist in managing the practiceââ¬â¢s social media presence by posting content, sharing educational tips, and promoting practice services.
Help with marketing activities, such as sending newsletters, patient recall reminders, and organizing patient appreciation days.
Basic Lab Work
Perform basic dental lab duties, such as creating temporary crowns, pouring impressions, and preparing models.
Collaborate with dental labs for the delivery of crowns, bridges, and other lab-fabricated appliances.
Financial & Treatment Coordination
Discuss treatment plans with patients and help them understand their financial obligations.
Work with patients to arrange payment plans or financing options if needed.
Follow up on outstanding patient balances and insurance payments.
Technology and Software Support
Proficient in dental practice management software (Eaglesoft) for patient scheduling, billing, and charting.
Troubleshoot basic IT or software issues as they arise.
Team Collaboration
Work closely with the dentist and other team members to ensure all tasks are completed efficiently and accurately.
Take on additional tasks or duties as needed to support the practice, including light cleaning and office maintenance when necessary.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (required).
Completion of a dental assistant training program (preferred).
Current CPR certification (required).
Ohio Dental Assistant Radiography License.
Proficiency with dental practice management software (preferred).
Strong organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
Friendly, patient-centered attitude with excellent interpersonal communication.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for long periods.
Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination.
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
Work Hours
Full-time position, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday
Flexibility in scheduling to meet the needs of patients
Salary
Hourly rates start at $17 to $27 per hour, (can be negotiated based on experience) with the potential for growth based on individual performance, practice performance, and tenure.
