Job Description
OverviewWe at Progressive Dental Care are looking for an outstanding assistant to help take care of our patients! This is a full time position. Monday through Thursday from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm. We are a growing general practice in South Portland that focuses on family dentistry and cosmetics. Our office is looking for someone who is great with patients and works well with a team. The assistants duties will mostly focus on Restorative Dentistry however, occasional Oral Surgery and Endodontic procedures are performed. Experience with digital radiographs, impression taking, and digital scanning is preferred.
Responsibilities
Assist dentists during examinations and procedures, ensuring a comfortable environment for patients.
Prepare and maintain dental instruments, equipment, and treatment areas in accordance with infection control protocols.
Take and record vital signs, including blood pressure and pulse, as needed.
Operate dental equipment such as 3D scanners for imaging purposes.
Maintain accurate patient records using Dentrix software and ensure all documentation is up to date.
Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care.
Manage inventory of dental supplies and assist with ordering when necessary.
Adhere to aseptic techniques and infection control standards throughout all procedures.
Support pediatric patients with care tailored to their specific needs.
Skills
Proficiency in dental assisting with a strong understanding of general dentistry practices.
Familiarity with medical terminology relevant to dental care.
Knowledge of infection control protocols and aseptic techniques.
Experience with Dentrix or similar dental management systems is preferred.
Ability to take vital signs accurately and respond appropriately to patient needs.
Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and team members.
A compassionate approach towards pediatric dentistry, ensuring a positive experience for younger patients.

Pay: $23.00 - $26.00 per hour
