Job Description
Job SummaryWe are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Hygienist to join our dental practice. *This position can be full time or part time - you choose your schedule.* The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality dental hygiene care to our patients, ensuring their comfort and satisfaction. You will play a crucial role in promoting oral health, educating patients on proper hygiene practices, and assisting the dental team in delivering comprehensive care.
Duties
Conduct thorough patient assessments, including medical history review and oral examinations.
Perform dental cleanings, scaling, and root planing procedures while adhering to infection control protocols.
Document patient treatment plans and progress notes accurately in the electronic health record system.
Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and the importance of regular dental visits.
Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort.
Utilize dental software OpenDental for scheduling appointments, managing patient records, and billing processes.
Collaborate with the dental team to ensure a smooth workflow and optimal patient care experience.
Stay updated on advancements in dental hygiene practices and participate in continuing education opportunities.
Requirements
Valid state license to practice as a Dental Hygienist.
Strong knowledge of anatomy related to oral health and general dentistry principles.
Experience with documentation review and medical coding is preferred.
Familiarity with infection control standards and practices in a clinical setting.
Proficiency in using dental software applications such as OpenDental and Dexis imaging.
Experience working with pediatric patients is a plus but not mandatory.
Excellent communication skills with a compassionate approach to patient care.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also being self-motivated.
