Hometown Family Dentistry is looking for a happy individual with a positive attitude to fill the position of an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of our clinic. This position requires proficiency in assisting with various dental procedures, maintaining patient records, and adhering to safety and hygiene protocols.

Responsibilities

Assist the dentist during examinations and treatments using four-handed dentistry techniques.
Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment according to HIPAA regulations and clinic protocols.
Take and develop dental X-rays as needed, ensuring proper safety measures are followed.
Maintain accurate medical documentation for patients, including treatment plans and progress notes.
Provide support in general dentistry procedures as well as specialized areas such as endodontics.
Manage patient flow within the clinic, ensuring a positive experience for all patients.
Assist with administrative tasks, including scheduling appointments and managing patient records in the dental systems.
Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care.

Requirements

Previous experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar role is preferred but not mandatory.
Knowledge of dental terminology, procedures, and equipment is essential.
Familiarity with medical documentation practices and HIPAA compliance is required.
Proficiency in operating dental systems for scheduling and record management is advantageous.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients and team members.
Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Certification in dental assisting or relevant training is required.
