Job Description
As a Registered Dental Hygienist at Wendell Family Dentistry, you are in a pivotal position to provide essential preventive oral care. Your work ensures patients receive ongoing treatment that promotes long-term dental health by cleaning, scaling, and polishing teeth, preventing gum disease, and contributing to comprehensive care.
Key Responsibilities:
Record treatment details in patient charts, including rendered treatments, upcoming treatment plans, and time estimates for doctor, assistant, and chair time required for future appointments.
Take radiographs as instructed by the dentist.
Document periodontal conditions, occlusal relationships, and the extent of prophylaxis to support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
Provide exceptional customer service by escorting patients to and from treatment rooms.
Administer Nitrous Oxide and Oxygen to patients as necessary.
Apply non-aerosol, non-caustic topical agents, and pit and fissure sealants.
Remove excess cement from supragingival tooth surfaces.
Assist the dentist during clinical exams by recording findings and recommendations.
Conduct oral cancer screenings for all patients.
Perform scaling, polishing, and fluoride application.
Prepare treatment rooms by setting up, decontaminating, sterilizing instruments, and ensuring all necessary supplies are available.
Inspect the patient's oral cavity, charting lesions, existing restorations, and missing teeth.
Assess gingival health and the condition of all oral tissues.
Perform root planing and Myofunctional evaluations.
Educate patients on preventive care, bacterial impact, and the disease process, providing literature and guidance for at-home oral care.
Clean and maintain restorations and appliances, such as dentures and partials.
Coordinate patient appointments, including scheduling follow-up treatments.
Maintain and monitor the recall system, reaching out to patients who are overdue for visits.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid X-ray certification.
Active RDH license.
Current CPR and First Aid certification.
