Responsibilities

1. Patient Care and Comfort:

   • Greet and prepare patients for treatment.
   • Ensure patient comfort throughout procedures.
   • Provide patients with post-procedure care instructions.

2. Chairside Assistance:

   • Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures by handing instruments, using suction devices, and preparing dental materials.
   • Keep the treatment area sterile and organized.

3. Preparation and Sterilization:

   • Sterilize and disinfect dental instruments and equipment.
   • Set up trays for procedures with the necessary instruments and materials.

4. X-rays and Lab Tasks:

   • Take and develop dental X-rays as directed by the dentist.
   • Assist in taking impressions for dental casts and molds.

5. Record-Keeping:

   • Maintain accurate patient records, including charting and updating treatment information.
   • Assist with entering data into the dental practice software system.

6. Equipment Maintenance:

   • Ensure dental equipment is clean, functional, and well-maintained.
   • Monitor inventory levels of dental supplies and materials.

7. Patient Education:

   • Educate patients on proper oral hygiene and care for their teeth and gums.
   • Explain post-treatment care and answer any patient questions about procedures.

8. Administrative Tasks:

   • Schedule patient appointments, answer phones, and handle basic administrative duties as needed.

A dental assistant helps maintain a smooth workflow, ensuring that both the dentist and patient experience is seamless.
