Bilingual Dental Assistant - Berks Community Health Center - Reading, PA

Position Summary
Provide quality dental care and associated services to patients with the authorization, assignment, or examination by a dentist. Performs the dental assistant services and procedures permitted by the scope of practice as outlined in Pennsylvania Code. Integrates quality improvement and cost-effective methods of providing care. Participates actively in BCHC’s mission to provide exceptional patient-centered primary and preventive healthcare for all residents of Berks County, regardless of economic status.
Job Description

· Seat patient in operatory, ready for dental care
· Review patient’s medical history
· Help with ordering supplies and inventory
· Obtain medical clearance if necessary
· Adheres to current infection control procedures
· Set up and breakdown rooms between patients
· Arrives on time for all scheduled shifts
· Ensures accurate documentation in BCHC electronic patient records
· Working cooperatively with dental team in all aspects of patient care
· Assists dentist with all procedures, as directed within scope of practice.
· Pour models and prepares cases for lab pick up
· Preparing specialty referrals, records pre-authorization requests
· Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of dental procedures, clinic infection control procedures, cleaning and sterilization of instruments, tray set up, and dental materials
· Helps with routine equipment maintenance and recording in manual as assigned.
· Demonstrates commitment to the mission of the organization in promoting dental health
· Interacts positively with a diverse, medically complex, and occasionally demanding patient population.
· Provides service in a manner that is appropriate for the patient’s age; demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to meet the patient’s physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs.
· Other duties as required
