Dental Assistant - II - Southern Smiles Pediatric Dentistry - Cameron, NC

Duties, including but not limited to:- Assisting dentists during dental procedures- Preparing and sterilizing dental instruments and equipment- Capturing dental x-rays (bitewings, PAs, panoramic images)- Charting clinical findings into patient record and generating treatment plans, patient prescriptions, and transcribing referrals to other dental/medical providers- Helping manage children with special needs and providing guidance and comfort to parents- Educate patients on oral hygiene and post-operative care- Maintain a clean and organized dental office environment- Sterilizing equipment and clinical instruments- Turning over and cleaning hygiene chairs/operatories- Providing oral hygiene prophylaxis, fluoride treatments, and dental sealants- Communicating with lead assistants and front-office staff to coordinate patient flow- Making diagnostic impressions and pouring up models and submitting laboratory prescriptions- Monitoring patients on nitrous oxide and conscious sedation-Assisting dentists during operating room cases at surgery center
Experience- Minimum of 1 year experience as a Dental Assistant II- Proficiency in dental assisting techniques, including sealants & restorative, dental prophylaxis, capturing x-rays, and working with children- Knowledge of dental procedures and materials- Familiarity with infection control protocols and aseptic technique- Ability to assess patient needs and provide appropriate care- Proficiency in Eaglesoft dental software for patient management
Requirements:- COVID Vaccination Series complete (shots 1 & 2) as requirement for hospital operating room privileges- Annual flu vaccination- Certification to take dental radiographs, nomad/portable x-ray certification- Certification for nitrous oxide monitoring- Certification for coronal polishing- BLS certification

As a Dental Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the dentists at Southern Smiles by providing high-quality assistance to the dentists and our patients. Your responsibilities will include assisting during procedures, preparing instruments, taking x-rays, educating patients, managing appointments, and maintaining a clean office environment. We're looking for someone with a personality to work with kids, but overall, can work on a team and contribute to team success.
To excel in this role, you should have at least 1 year of experience as a Dental Assistant II (DA-II, CDA). Additionally, we are looking for a candidate who can learn from mistakes, think critically, and demonstrate initiative in work ethic and assessing patient needs.
