Job description
Are you an experienced treatment and insurance coordinator with a passion for working with children and families? Our pediatric dental office is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Treatment Planner/Insurance Coordinator to join our team. This is a full-time, four-day-a-week (32 hour) position that offers a supportive and fast-paced work environment.
Summary
As a Treatment Planner and Insurance Coordinator at Smilehaus Pediatric Dentistry, you will play an essential role in managing patient treatment plans and ensuring seamless communication between our dental team and families. This position is vital in enhancing patient experience and supporting our commitment to quality pediatric dental care.
Responsibilities
Greet patients, verify insurance, process payments, and handle billing inquiries.
Coordinate treatment plans and clearly communicate costs and procedures to families.
Manage insurance verification, pre-authorizations, claims, and appeals.
Maintain accurate records and ensure HIPAA compliance.
Assist in scheduling appointments and follow-up visits to optimize patient care.
Stay updated on dental coding practices and terminology relevant to pediatric dentistry.
Provide administrative support to dental staff and assist with other office tasks as needed.
Qualifications
3+ years of dental office experience, specializing in insurance breakdowns and claims.
Understanding of dental insurance plans, coverage limitations, and coordination of benefits.
Ability to explain insurance benefits and out-of-pocket costs to patients clearly.
Knowledge of electronic claim submission and insurance portals.
Familiarity with dental terminology, procedures, and CDT codes.
Proficiency in verifying insurance benefits, filing claims, and following up on unpaid claims.
Experience handling pre-authorizations and appeals for denied claims.
Ability to handle patient inquiries regarding insurance and billing with professionalism and empathy.
Strong problem-solving skills to address claim issues and coverage disputes.
Strong knowledge of dental coding.
Proficient in using dental software, phone systems, and texting software.
Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Team player with a positive attitude and dedication to providing outstanding customer service.
Attention to detail in reviewing insurance policies and claims.
Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Strong record-keeping and documentation skills to maintain accurate patient financial records.
Understanding of HIPAA regulations and patient privacy laws.
Ability to ensure all insurance claims are processed accurately and ethically.
