Dental Hygienist, RDH - James D. Spalenka D.D.S Inc. - San Diego, CA

Job Overview:
Our office is currently looking for part-time position as a Registered Dental Hygienist to work on Fridays.
We are a fast-paced general practice with an established patient base. Our office offers the latest cutting-edge technology and quality dental care. Skills and Experience: Previous experience as a Dental Hygienist required.
Compensation: $60/hr - $63/hr depending on experience
Responsibilities/Duties for our Registered Dental Hygienist Include but not limited to:

Welcome patients in the dental office
Perform dental hygiene services and procedures, including dental prophylaxis, scaling, fluoride, sealants, root planning and laser light therapy.
Complete a thorough assessment of the patient's teeth, bone, and periodontal tissues, and document any abnormalities or suspected conditions
Take digital x-rays
Obtain and review dental history and/or records from patient. Ensure that the health history is updated for all returning patients
Educates patient(s) in oral hygiene technique, answering patient questions and providing other Educational information relevant to oral hygiene.
Maintain patient records and treatment plans
Sterilize dental instruments and equipment as needed
Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and preventive care
Maintain accurate patient records using dental software systems
Follow infection control protocols and HIPAA guidelines
Updates medical history of patient, highlighting significant information for dentist's review
Practices universal precautions and other sterilization and infection control procedures, and maintain equipment.
Provides associated administrative support, including maintaining patient documentation, patient communication and other record-keeping.

Qualifications

Degree in Dental Hygiene from an accredited program
CA State licensure and certification as a Dental Hygienist
Current CPR certification
Laser certification
Proficiency in medical terminology and Dentrix/ Patterson software
Knowledge of dental office procedures and practices
X-ray certification/license in accordance with state regulations
Strong knowledge of dental instruments, procedures, and terminology
Proficiency in infection control and sterilization techniques
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Detail-oriented and well-organized
Understanding of HIPAA regulations and patient privacy laws
1-3 years of experience working in a dental practice
Able to stand up and sit for long periods of time to administer dental exams and procedures

Physical Requirements:

Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
May require bending, stooping and lifting up to 15 lbs.
