Dental Hygienist duties are to treat patients and promote good oral health practices by advising patients on periodontal and preventative care. Our hygienist should also be confident in collaborating with dentists to decide treatments for teeth and periodontal disease using a meticulous eye for oral diseases and anomalies. Candidates should be reliable, able to build trust with patients of all ages, and should have a deep knowledge of relevant health and safety rules.
Responsibilities
· Ensure patients feel as comfortable as possible before their examination/treatment
· Sterilize dental instruments properly
· Conduct initial oral screenings and check oral health history
· Possess knowledge of medications and health conditions that affect the oral cavity
· Identify conditions like gingivitis, caries, and periodontitis
· Clean and help protect patientsâ teeth by removing plaque, calculous, or apply fluoride
· Educate patients of all ages on proper oral care by demonstrating applicable techniques
· Give instructions to patients after surgical or other dental procedures
· Take X-rays and dental impressions
· Assist dentists with selecting appropriate treatments for various diseases
· Maintain meticulous documentation and charts on each patient
· Monitor supplies
Skills
· Proven experience as Dental Hygienist
· In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations in this profession (OSHA/HIPAA)
· Experience in preparing and maintaining dental equipment
· Experience using dental software for maintaining patient records â Dentrix a plus
· Outstanding communication skills
· A patient and friendly personality
· Attention to detail
· Stamina to meet the physical demands of the job
· Diploma in Dental Hygiene
· Valid license to practice in Colorado
