Position Summary
The Check-In Receptionist for Progressive Oral Surgery is the first person a patient speaks to and thus a vital part of establishing the patientâs relationship with the office. The Check-In Receptionist is responsible for making sure the office runs smoothly so our surgical and medical staff can focus on patient care and treatment. There are a number of administrative and customer service related duties associated with the role. Typical tasks will include, but not be limited to, scheduling appointments, answering and making phone calls as well as answering patient questions. Administrative & Customer Service experience are required to ensure success. Full time and Part Time positions available.
Duties and Responsibilities
Greeting patients upon arrival
Assisting patients in filling out required office forms
Entering all relevant patient information and documents into electronic chart
Verifying and updating insurance information
Keeping patients informed of dental procedures and office policies
Managing general/insurance referrals and sending/receiving x-rays
Collecting patientsâ past due balances upon arrival
Moving patients through appointments as scheduled
Managing daily schedule
Missed appointments
Emergency appointments
Late appointments
Scheduling and rescheduling appointments
Answering phone calls
Confirming appointments
Verifying insurance
Calculating out-of-pocket fees
Asking patients to complete paperwork online
Rendering and communicating Pre-Op Instructions (NPO, Driver, etc.)
Preparing and sending outgoing mail
Organizing and filing incoming faxes
Keeping track of office supplies to be ordered
Ensuring patientsâ paperwork was filled online, and is complete
Maintaining a professional, clean and tidy reception area
Required Skills and Qualifications
High school diploma or GED
Excellent phone and in-person communication skills
Organization, time management and multitasking abilities
An understanding of dental office procedures and workflows
Computer literacy in basic applications like email, Microsoft Office and Digital EMR systems
Excellent customer service skills
Meticulous attention to detail
