At our small, private dental practice, we’ve been proudly serving our community for years. Our current doctor took over 2.5 years ago after the previous dentist retired, and since then, we’ve been growing!

Duties

Perform comprehensive oral health assessments including charting, periodontal probing, and soft tissue examination.
Conduct prophylaxis treatments (scaling and polishing) for patients with healthy and mild to moderate periodontal conditions.
Perform scaling and root planing (SRP) for patients with periodontal disease, following appropriate treatment protocols.
Take diagnostic radiographs (X-rays), including bitewings, periapical, and panoramic images, as needed.
Apply preventive treatments including fluoride, sealants, and desensitizing agents to enhance patient oral health.
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, including brushing, flossing, and nutrition, tailored to individual needs.
Assist in the diagnosis and treatment of periodontal disease, including documenting findings, and collaborating with the dentist on treatment plans.
Monitor and document patient progress, treatment outcomes, and make appropriate recommendations for follow-up care.
Assist in four-handed dentistry during restorative, endodontic, and surgical procedures as needed.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records using Open Dental(or applicable software) and ensure HIPAA compliance.
Sterilize instruments and ensure proper infection control protocols are followed in compliance with OSHA guidelines.
Manage inventory and order dental supplies, ensuring all necessary instruments and materials are available for daily procedures.
Provide patient education on periodontal disease prevention, and assist with maintaining recare intervals based on individual treatment needs.
Work collaboratively with the dentist and other team members to deliver comprehensive patient care and achieve optimal treatment outcomes.

Skills

Proficient in periodontal assessments, scaling, and root planing (SRP)
Skilled in taking and interpreting diagnostic radiographs (X-rays)
Experienced in fluoride and sealant application for preventive care
Strong patient education on oral hygiene practices
Familiar with dental software
Knowledgeable in infection control and sterilization protocols
Ability to assist with four-handed dentistry procedures
Detail-oriented in charting and documenting patient care
Effective time management and organizational skills
Team-oriented with strong communication skills
Adaptable to diverse patient needs (pediatric, geriatric)
Manual dexterity for precise clinical procedures
Commitment to continuing education and professional growth
