Position Overview

The Dental Hygienists at our Carolina Family Dental Center provides oral health care that demonstrates proficiency in technical aspects and a thoughtful approach to oral health education. The Dental Hygienist actively strives to ensure comfort and continuity of care for patients. The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to routine prophylaxis, non-surgical periodontal treatment, soft tissue management, periodontal charting, charting existing conditions and proposed treatment, documenting accurate clinical notes, applying fluoride, placing sealants, taking radiographs, and providing oral health instruction and demonstration. This position reports to the Dental Site Manager.

THIS POSITION OFFERS A 40-HOUR OR 20-HOUR WORKWEEK, NO WEEKENDS, FULL BENEFITS PACKAGE, 12 PAID HOLIDAYS, BI-ANNUAL BONUS, BI-WEEKLY PAY. Essential Tasks

Effectively deliver a dental hygiene program to children and adults, to include but not limited to screening, referral and follow-up, sealant project coordination and participation.
Build and maintain a positive relationship with patients.
Implement a recall program to encourage and promote good oral health care.
Uphold OSHA regulations and Infection Control monitoring and training.
Provide routine periodontal therapy/non-surgical periodontal therapy, application of sealants/Perio charting.
Perform clinical procedures as delegated by the dentist.
Provide patient instruction and demonstration where necessary, as directed by the dentist.
Update patient’s health history and patient information semiannually.
Assist in other areas of the office when necessary (phones, supplies, moving dismissed patient records).
Attend monthly and quarterly staff meetings.
Adhere to safety and security policies and procedures and use equipment and materials properly.

Experience and Education

Associate or bachelor's degree in dental hygiene.
Graduate of an ADA-accredited dental hygiene program.
Two years of similar experience.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Knowledge of current principles and practices of public health.
Strong attention to detail and highly organized.
Basic computer skills.
Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.

Schedule

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, 8am-5pm. Thursday 8am-7pm.

Physical Requirements

Potential sitting or standing for long periods of time, occasional bending, stooping, lifting including of patients, reaching forward and overhead. Proper lifting techniques required.
May require walking primarily on a level surface for periods throughout the day.
Frequent computer work required.
Must be able to travel freely in the local area; between clinics, hospitals, health departments, etc.

Base Pay Overview

The starting pay for this position is $33.00 per hour. Please keep in mind that actual salary will vary based on various factors such as qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the roles.
