Permanent Dental Assistant Job in Day Shift

HOURLY RANGE: $19.408/hr - $25.592/hr
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: The work involves assisting dentists in Providing care to patients. Under direct supervision, employees in the class assist a practicing dentist at their chair during examination and treatment of patients, including operative and surgical cases. The incumbent may also assist in performing routing dental laboratory work. Supervision is not a function of this position class. Does related work as required.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:
Assists dentist during examination and treatment of patients;
Seats and prepares patients for examination;
Mixes amalgams, silicates and other restorative materials;
Sterilizes instruments and equipment for use by dentist or hygienist;
Makes up dental charts;
Takes and develops radiographs;
Answers telephone and schedules dental appointments.
FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Good knowledge of the practices, techniques and terminology of dental care; good knowledge of materials and instruments use by dentists in treatment of patients; working knowledge of x-ray procedures; working knowledge of practices, techniques and terminology of dental laboratory work; ability to maintain dental records; dependability; capable of performing the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma including or supplemented by a satisfactory course in dental assisting; or:
Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and one (1) year of experience in a dental office which included assisting a dentist in patient treatment; or:
An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B).
NOTE: Verifiable part-time and/or volunteer experience will be pro-rated toward meeting full-time experience requirements.
