RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists the dentists of the Department of Dentistry by performing clinical and organizational tasks as described in the NJ Administrative Code.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Three to five years dental experience preferred,
Good organizational and communication skills required.
Prior experience of digital radiology needed. Knowledge of medical/dental terminology and billing preferred.
LICENSURE:
NJ Dental X-ray License mandatory.
NJ RDA when hired or within 1 year of hire date. If not, employee will be terminated.
All NBIMC Dental Assistants are expected to be NJ Registered Dental Assistants and maintain their RDA registration with the
State of NJ in order to maintain employment. Failure to maintain RDA certification and/or NJ Dental X-ray license is grounds for termination.
Educational benefits are available only once per employee for the RDA certification course.
Dental Assistants who were beyond their probationary period prior to November 10, 1995 and who were not RDA certified are exempt from this requirement.
NBIMC personnel designation of Level I Dental Assistant:
A Dental Assistant who is not NJ RDA certified
Payroll of a Level I Dental Assistant is lower than that of a Level II Dental Assistant
Promotion to Level II is automatic upon presentation of NJ State RDA Registration
A Dental Assistant who is NJ RDA certified
There is no ""Certification payroll bonus"" for RDA's since they are compensated at a higher rate
