Job Description
We are looking for a competent dental assistant who will make the dentistâs office more efficient and pleasant for patients. Youâll ensure excellent customer service and lift administrative and basic dental tasks off the dentistâs shoulders. Dental assistants should be well-organized with great attention to detail. You should be able to follow instructions and respect dental office regulations. We want you to be skilled in providing direct or indirect patient care and able to make office procedures as smooth as possible.
Responsibilities
Chairside:
Set-up and breakdown of rooms for exams, surgeries, and post-operative visits using excellent infection control techniques
New patient exams: review medical history, determine the reason for visit, taking x-rays (bite wings, PAs, full mouth series), and CT scans. We will train you in taking CT scans if necessary.
Chairside assisting of surgeries (i.e. extractions, bone grafts, gum grafts, implants, other periodontal surgery): you have excellent infection control techniques and a basic understanding of procedures and necessary instruments/materials needed by doctors, using excellent infection control techniques
Reviewing pre-op and post-op instructions with patients
Careful breakdown and turnover of rooms after patient visits, using excellent infection control techniques
Cleaning, packaging, and sterilization of instruments after all procedures, allowing timely turnover of surgical kits
Returning cleaned instruments to correct storage
Restocking rooms as needed
Taking digital impressions with an intra-oral scanner. We will provide training, if necessary.
Taking clinical photographs. We will provide training, if necessary.
These tasks may be completed with another team member present, allowing you to work as a team in completing these responsibilities
Office:
Typing electronic chart notes for patients seen for exams and post-operative visits (the doctors are responsible for surgical notes)
Calling patients, the day after surgeries to see how they are feeling and answer basic post-operative questions
Unloading office supplies and placing them in supply closets
