POSITION OVERVIEW
The Dental Assistant is a member of the dental team whose primary responsibilities are to prepare patients for a visit, check-in and check-out patients and schedule appointments and reappointments.
SCHEDULE AND PAY
This is a full-time (40-hour) position.
Hours: Monday – Friday 7:45 AM – 5 PM. The pay depends on experience, and the range is between $18-21/hour.
DUTIES

Prepares, cleans, and sets up operatories for patient appointments

Takes and mounts dental radiographs (x-rays)
Prepares sterile instruments and equipment

Prepares patients for their appointment and discharge as well

Asks about patient's medical history
Takes blood pressure and pulse

Performs dental assistant duties per provider workflow and practice
Provides and assists with patient discharge

Provides patients with instruction for oral care following surgery or other dental treatment procedure
Registers patients for appointment, if necessary
Assists with documentation for accurate billing and charting

QUALIFICATIONS

Active Dental Assisting Certificate in the state of Iowa
Iowa Radiology Certification, or ability to acquire within 6 months of hire
Sterilization Certification a plus
Previous training and experience in dental assisting preferred.
