Job Title: Pediatric Dental Assistant
Location: Danville, CaliforniaJob Type: Part Time, two to four Fridays/month 7:30 am – 2:30pm
Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Pediatric Dental Assistant to join our team! This role focuses on providing chairside support for infants and young children, particularly during specialized procedures such as tongue and lip tie releases (frenectomies). The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable working with babies, and knowledgeable about airway-focused dentistry to support optimal oral and overall health.
Key Responsibilities:

Medical scribing
Assist the dentist during pediatric procedures, including tongue and lip tie revisions (frenectomies) and airway-focused treatments.
Ensure a gentle, supportive, and calming environment for infants, toddlers, and their caregivers.
Prepare and sterilize instruments, maintain a clean operatory, and follow strict infection control protocols.
Educate parents on post-procedure care, including wound management, aftercare exercises, and the role of oral function in airway health.
Support airway-focused assessments and treatment plans, collaborating with the dentist to monitor oral development, breathing, and myofunctional health.
Maintain accurate patient records and document procedures appropriately.
Collaborate with the dental team to enhance patient experience and streamline workflow.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) or Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) required.
Current X-ray certification required.
CPR/BLS certification required.
Experience, or the desire to work with infants, toddlers, and children in a dental or medical setting.
Knowledge or willingness to learn about airway-focused dentistry and oral function.
Strong communication skills to educate and support parents.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a calming presence.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience in pediatric dentistry or working with babies or the desire to help those patients in difficult settings.
Familiarity with frenectomy procedures, post-op care, and myofunctional therapy.
Knowledge of laser dentistry techniques for frenectomies (a plus).
Bilingual skills (Spanish, Mandarin, or other) are a plus.
