Duties:- Assist the dentist during dental procedures, ensuring efficient and smooth operations- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and equipment- Greet and prepare patients for their dental appointments- Take dental x-rays- Perform dental charting and maintain accurate patient records using electronic medical record systems such as Dentrix- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and post-operative care instructions- Provide chairside assistance to the dentist during procedures, including passing instruments, suctioning, and providing retraction as needed- Perform basic laboratory tasks such as pouring models and fabricating temporary crowns- Maintain inventory of dental supplies and order new supplies as needed
Skills:- Proficient in dental assisting techniques and procedures- Knowledge of aseptic technique and infection control protocols- Strong patient assessment skills to ensure their comfort and safety during procedures- Familiarity with medical documentation and electronic medical record systems such as Dentrix- Ability to take accurate dental x-rays and perform radiographic procedures- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients, dentists, and other team members- Knowledge of vital signs monitoring and basic life support techniques
Requirements:- High school diploma or equivalent- Completion of an accredited dental assisting program or equivalent experience- Current certification in dental assisting preferred but not required
