IHC in Kokomo, Indiana, is seeking an experienced Dental Hygienist to join our team! The Dental Hygienist plays a crucial role in achieving IHCâs mission of client satisfaction, quality care, and productivity. This position involves providing high-quality dental care, educating patients on preventive care techniques, and working with dentists to develop treatment plans and diagnose oral diseases.

Monday - 7:30 AM - 7:00 PM
Tuesday - 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM
Wednesday - 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM
Thursday - 7:30 AM - 7:00 PM
Friday - 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM
Saturday (every other) - 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Sunday - Closed

Dental Hygienist Job Overview:
Patient Care: Perform routine dental procedures such as cleaning, polishing, and applying sealants and fluorides. Take and develop dental X-rays. Develop treatment plans with dentist input and educate patients as needed. Assist dentists with special tests, procedures, and complex treatments. Make impressions of patientâs teeth for study casts
Charting and Room Maintenance: Complete dental charting, document lab procedures, and ensure follow-up on results. Prepare dental treatment rooms for the next patient and sterilize dental instruments and equipment
Professional Development: Stay current on the latest dental hygiene techniques and tools. Mentor and teach Expanded Function Dental Assistants, especially on new or emerging techniques and tools
Knowledge and Skills:
Application of Knowledge: Utilize professional dentistry, public health, and dental care concepts, principles, and methods, along with extensive clinical experience, to complete assignments, improve processes, and coordinate work with others
Critical Skills and Behaviors: Demonstrate strong logic and analysis skills, effective communication and relationship-building abilities, and proficiency in dental hygiene protocols and procedures. Maintain high detail orientation, prioritize tasks, and perform responsibilities efficiently and timely. Participate in performance improvement activities and suggest process enhancements
Work independently with minimal supervision: Stay current on new dental hygiene methods and recommend procedural changes. Provide direction to Expanded Function Dental Assistants in a teaching and mentoring capacity. Adapt methods and techniques based on patient needs while maintaining consistent objectives
Requirements:
Experience, education, degrees, licenses
Associates Degree or Bachelors Degree in Dental Hygiene from an accredited school
Licensed Dental Hygienist by the state of Indiana
Prefer six (6) months of experience in a clinical setting
Proficient computer skills, including the ability to use electronic health records and software (eCW preferred)
Excellent working knowledge of dentistry, dental hygiene procedures, dental patient screening, and medical history documentation
BLS certification
