Job Description:
Sun River Health is seeking a dedicated and highly skilled full-time Clinical Dentist with Clinical Oversight to join our team at our Riverhead location. This unique role offers an opportunity to mentor and oversee 4th-year dental students from Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine while continuing to provide exceptional care to our patients in a community health setting.
In this position, the Clinical Dentist will have a dual roleâseeing patients directly and supervising dental students during their rotations. You will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality care, assisting with patient treatment plans, and fostering an educational environment where dental students can thrive. Your leadership will be key in providing valuable mentorship to the next generation of dentists while maintaining a high level of patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee 4th-year dental students from Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine during their clinical rotations.
Provide comprehensive patient care, including exams, diagnostics, treatment planning, and procedures.
Ensure that all clinical activities are carried out in accordance with best practices and the highest ethical standards.
Serve as a mentor to dental students, offering guidance, feedback, and support to develop their clinical skills.
Conduct patient consultations and collaborate with students on treatment decisions.
Maintain a manageable patient load, ensuring a balance between direct patient care and student oversight.
Work closely with the healthcare team to ensure seamless patient care and coordination with support staff.
Participate in ongoing professional development and maintain current knowledge of dental practices, technologies, and advancements.
Provide regular feedback to Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine regarding student performance and progress.
Required Qualifications:
DMD or DDS degree from an accredited dental school.
Active, unrestricted New York State dental license.
Minimum of 3 years of clinical dental experience.
Experience in clinical education or mentoring is a plus.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with students, patients, and the healthcare team.
Ability to maintain a high level of clinical expertise and patient care while supervising students.
Salary Range: $158,904.20 - $173,791.80 annually, commensurate with experience.
