Job SummaryThe Hygiene Assistant plays a crucial role in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and safety within a dental clinic. This position is responsible for maintaining flow of the hygiene schedule, assisting with patient care, and ensuring that all instruments and equipment are properly sterilized and prepared for use, adhering to strict protocols to prevent infection and ensure patient safety. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of aseptic techniques, anatomy knowledge, and familiarity with pediatric dentistry.
Duties
Assist Dental Hygienists with patients and daily procedures
Perform sterilization of dental instruments and equipment using appropriate methods and techniques.
Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations while handling patient information.
Assist in the preparation of treatment areas and instruments for dental procedures.
Maintain accurate records of sterilization processes and equipment usage.
Monitor vital signs as needed during patient interactions.
Collaborate with dental staff to ensure a smooth workflow in the clinic.
Utilize medical imaging technology as required for patient care.
Uphold cleanliness standards throughout the clinic, including treatment rooms and common areas.
Skills
Strong knowledge of anatomy relevant to dental procedures.
Experience in pediatric dentistry is preferred.
Proficient in assisting with dental procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques.
Familiarity with Dentrix or similar dental practice management software.
Understanding of aseptic techniques to maintain a sterile environment.
Ability to monitor vital signs effectively.
Knowledge of medical imaging practices is a plus.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
