Responsibilities:1. Provide chairside assistance to dentists during various dental procedures, including surgical procedure, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow.
2. Assist in the care and comfort of patients, addressing their concerns and providing support before, during, and after treatments.
3. Sterilize and prepare dental instruments, equipment, and treatment areas, maintaining a clean and hygienic environment.
4. Perform dental radiography, including taking and developing X-rays, while adhering to safety protocols.
5. Assist with dental impressions for various procedures, such as crowns, bridges, and removable appliances.
6. Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including treatment plans, progress notes, and other relevant documentation.
7. Assist in scheduling and coordinating patient appointments, ensuring optimal use of dental office resources.
8. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care, offering guidance and resources as needed.
9. Monitor and manage dental supplies, restocking as necessary, and assisting with inventory control.
10. Implement and uphold infection control protocols, including proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
11. Assist with basic laboratory tasks, such as pouring and trimming models, fabricating temporary crowns, and other relevant duties.
12. Maintain and troubleshoot dental equipment, ensuring proper functionality and promptly reporting any issues.
13. Collaborate with other dental assistants, receptionists, and dental hygienists to ensure a cohesive and efficient dental practice.
14. Be prepared to assist in emergency situations, following established protocols and providing support to the dental team.
15. Stay informed about advancements in dental technology and procedures, actively seeking opportunities for professional development and growth.
Qualifications:
1. **Education:** High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a dental assistant program or relevant coursework is preferred.
2. **Certification:** Possession of dental assistant certification or licensure as required by state regulations. Current CPR certification is often necessary.
3. **Experience:** Previous experience as a dental assistant is advantageous but not always mandatory, depending on the specific position.
4. **Radiography Certification:** Certification in dental radiography, demonstrating proficiency in taking and developing dental X-rays.
5. **Fluency in Spanish:** Preferred not required.
