We are seeking a Senior Pediatric Dental Assistant to join our team and play a vital role in providing exceptional pediatric dental care across 5+ practices in Brooklyn and Queens. This role is ideal for a patient-focused, detail-oriented professional with extensive experience in pediatric dentistry, strong leadership abilities, and a commitment to creating a stress-free, welcoming environment for children.
Competitive Pay: Hourly rates start at $25/hr, with higher compensation available for candidates with meaningful experience!
What You’ll Do:
Provide expert chairside assistance during pediatric procedures, including sealants, fluoride treatments, extractions, stainless steel crowns, space maintainers, and pulpotomies. Mentor and train junior pediatric dental assistants, ensuring excellence in patient care, behavioral management, and infection control. Create a child-friendly and welcoming environment, using effective behavioral management techniques to reduce dental anxiety and build trust with young patients. Take and process high-quality pediatric dental X-rays, ensuring comfort and safety for children. Educate parents and children on oral hygiene, diet, and post-treatment care, promoting long-term oral health habits. Assist in the fabrication, fitting, and maintenance of space maintainers and other pediatric dental appliances. Maintain detailed patient records, tracking treatment progress and oral health outcomes. Ensure strict infection control and sterilization protocols, maintaining a safe, sanitary clinical environment. Collaborate with pediatric dentists, hygienists, and front office staff to optimize patient flow and enhance care efficiency. Stay up to date on the latest advancements in pediatric dentistry, sedation protocols, and emerging dental technologies.
What We’re Looking For:
5+ years of experience as a Pediatric Dental Assistant in a high-volume practice. Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) or Certified Pediatric Dental Assistant (CPDA) credentials preferred. X-ray and CPR certification required. Proficiency in pediatric-specific dental tools and procedures, including stainless steel crowns, pulpotomies, and space maintainers. Extensive experience in child behavioral management techniques, especially for children with dental anxiety. Strong leadership skills, with the ability to mentor and train junior staff. Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to engage both children and parents effectively. Proven ability to manage a high-volume patient flow across multiple locations while maintaining high standards of care. Commitment to HIPAA compliance, OSHA regulations, and infection control protocols.
