Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 1. Seats, prepares and dismisses patients as well as provides oral or written preoperative and post-operative treatment instructions.* 2. Assist doctor(s) in providing dental treatment. Accurately prepare operatories with correct instruments and materials in advance of each treatment. 3. Take necessary x-rays, blood pressure, check charts for accuracy, ensure patient has a future hygiene appointment (make it if they donât), etc 4. Must understand the verbal, assumed, and foreshadowed needs and wants of the dentist and patient to help improve efficiency and productivity. 5. Ensure âtime integrityâ for the clinical team by making sure the dentistâs time is never wasted. 6. Proper use of the headsets. Notifying staff of Dr's movement. Making sure other staff members requests are responded to, to ensure office efficiency. 7. Always promote same day dentistry 8. Make sure proper handoffs are being executed to the Dr. and the Front Office staff. 9. Take and make sure inta-oral pictures and x-rays are displayed on the monitor when the Dr. enters the room. 10. Collects and record patients healthy history and ensure data integrity, including unscheduled treatment and hygiene appointments. 11. Obtain and scan all necessary consent forms. 12. Manage supply inventories (restorative and hygiene) ordering as necessary and staying within budgets. 13. Create and input treatment plan and clinical notes in software management system. 14. Clean and sanitize operatories after each treatment is completed. Follow all OSHA requirements. 15. Restock and refill supplies as necessary.
Essential Function
16. Print prescriptions and referral forms and make sure they are given to the patient at the end of their appointment. 17. Manage practice Evacuation Plan ensuring it is properly displayed. Also manages Emergency Care kit and Fire Extinguishers are kept up-to-date and current. 18. Ensure that every patient has a NEXT hygiene visit scheduled. 19. Make impressions, diagnostic casts, pour and trim models, check to ensure lab cases are sent out and returned in âtimelyâ fashion. Check in lab cases and update lab manager. 20. Educate patients on what treatments the doctor will likely recommend. Plant the seeds for same day dentistry. Include number of appointments, duration of appointments, consequences of not moving forward with treatment, etc. "URGENCY" 21. Ask for referrals from ârightâ patients. Update tracking spread sheet. 22. Re-stock hygiene trays and bags when necessary 23. Responsible for dispensing medications from drug box and keeping accurate log book. Keep up with medications expiration dates. 24. Contribute to and prepare for daily morning huddle and team meetings. 25. Make sure the movies and I-Pod are properly turned on every morning. 26. Make sure Nu-Calm is offered to all eligible patients, and that surveys are completed by all that participate. 27. Back up for filling Dr's schedule. 28. Run a report each week identifying patients who have been proposed treatment and have not scheduled. Make a minimum of 10 calls per week with the goal of scheduling a minimum of one appointment. Report progress at team meetings. 29. In accordance to OSHA compliance always wear mask, glasses, jacket, surgiwear. 30. Ensure the cleanliness of the operatories and lab. On Tue/Fri make sure to remove everything from countertops for cleaning. 31. Make sure end of day checklist is completed when it is your turn, or make sure a teammember will handle in your absence. 32. Performs any other related duties as assigned.
