Job Description

Expectations

To provide the best care possible for each patient, tailored to the needs of the patient.
To be compassionate, kind, and communicate in a respectful manner with other staff members and patients.
To recommend treatment based on the patient needs and not the patient's pocketbook.

Responsibilities

Periochart at least one time per year with minimum of recording pocket depths and recession.
Clinical diagnosis of periodontal condition recorded and discussed with patient and dentist.
Communicate with other staff at Moscow Family Dentistry about patient needs, treatment plans, and pertinent patient personal information.
Recommend and take radiographs:

1) 4 BWX - one time per year
2) FMX - one time every 5 years
3) Pano - one time every 5 years

Inform office manager of instrument needs or product recommendations.
Collaborate with fellow hygienists to ensure the best patient care possible.
Recommend, educate patient on, and perform laser treatment to ensure patient oral health.
Discuss and educate patients, parents, and caretakers on importance of oral health, including but not limited to:

1) Caries process
2) Periodontal disease process
3) Systemic health - diabetes, cardiovascular disease, dementia, Alzheimer's, etc.
4) Brushing, flossing, and waterpik technique
5) Oral aids available - electric toothbrushes, floss picks, mouth rinses
6) Perio science gel
7) Fluoride varnish
8) Prescription fluoride toothpaste

Recommend dental hygiene treatment based on radiographs, periochart, and intraoral examination.
Place sealants after diagnosis from the dentist.
Administer topical and local anesthetic.
Provide comprehensive treatment notes on the same day as patient care appointments.
Maintain operatory room .
Instrument maintenance.
