The Dental PSR performs front office duties as necessary for the efficient operation of the dental department and agency, i.e., receptionist functions, insurance eligibility and billing, data acquisition and entry, typing, filing, posting, cash handling, operation of office machines and other general clerical support. May be required to perform other duties but not limited to Chairside Assisting and Back Office. Reports to the Patient Services Representative Manager.
DENTAL ASSISTANT PSR (Patient Services Representative)
The Dental PSR performs front office duties as necessary for the efficient operation of the dental department and agency, i.e., receptionist functions, insurance eligibility and billing, data acquisition and entry, typing, filing, posting, cash handling, operation of office machines and other general clerical support. May be required to perform other duties but not limited to Chairside Assisting and Back Office.
Responsibilities/Duties include but are not limited to:
-Greet Patients
-Provide general information and assistance regarding agency programs, including explaining routine procedures and program activities.
- Patient Intake/Registration and Enter data into Electronic Health Record (EHR)
-Scheduling Appointments
-Verifying Insurance Eligibility/Benefits
-Explain and Qualify Eligible Patients for Sliding Fee Discount
-Collecting Payments and Provide Receipt; Post payments in EHR; Balance Petty Cash.
-Billing
-Answer all incoming calls; Take messages as necessary
-Generate and complete route slips on all patients and other office duties as needed
-Perform Chairside Assisting and other Back Office Duties as needed.
-May be required to travel to work at other satellite clinics as needed
Certifications/Licenses Required:
-High School Diploma or Equivalent
-Certificates of Dental Assisting and Radiation Safety
-Current CPR Certification (Or required within 2 months of employment)
-Current California Driver's License and access to reliable transportation (vehicle) to perform duties in satellite clinics when needed; Current Auto Insurance
Experience Required:
-2-year Experience as a functioning Dental Assistant
Skills Required to Perform the Job:
-Knowledge of Dental Insurances, HMO, PPO, DENTICAL
-Knowledge of Insurance Copays and Claims Processing/Billing
-Experience Scheduling Appointments
-Strong Work Ethic; Responsible, Reliable and Dependable; Enthusiastic and Team Player
-Professional Appearance; Exceptional Customer Service; Courteous and Helpful
-Can work independently (*Work with little supervision to set priorities and accomplish job responsibilities*); Demonstrates initiative, flexibility and accountability working alongside Dentists and a busy support staff team
-Attentive to Detail; Great Organizational Skills; Able to Multitask
-Ability to Operate a Computer; Proficient in Typing
-Knowledge, Proficiency, and Experience on Practice Management Software, i.e. Dentrix, Easy Dental, EagleSoft, etc.
-Knowledge of Business Software, (i.e. Word, Excel) and Email
-Basic Math Skills (Grade Level 4 and above)
-Dental Assisting Experience and Knowledge preparing the patient for treatment; Preparing materials and equipment for treatment and having them ready for the Dentist’s use; Assisting the Dentist in laboratory work
-Experience taking Digital X-rays; Knowledge of Four Handed Dentistry;
-Knowledge of Dental Terminology and Dental Procedures
-Knowledge and ability to operate Dental Laboratory Equipment, X-Ray Machine, Autoclave and other Sterilization Equipment, Restorative Equipment
Essential Functions, Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
-Prolonged periods of standing and sitting. Able to stand, walk on even surface, bend, sit, squat, reach, pull, lift and carry 25lbs. Must be able to type. Must feel comfortable interacting with the public. Must be able to operate computer and business programs. Must be able to read hand written documents and make hand written document entries. Able to put patients at ease and give clear understandable directions of treatment recommended by Dentist. Must be able to multi-task in a sometimes stressful environment.
90-day temp-to-hire; must be COVID vaccinated.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $21.67 - $23.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
