Job Description
We are seeking a positive, motivated and team-oriented Registered Dental Hygienist for our state of the art dental office in Waxhaw, NC. The candidate should be passionate about patient care and education. New graduates are welcome to apply.
Our office firmly believes in continuing education for employee and after 90 days we will send/ train them for local anesthesia.
The duties of a Dental Hygienist are among the most comprehensive and varied in the dental field. The ideal dental hygienist candidate will have the ability to perform many tasks requiring both interpersonal and technical skills.
Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities:
Frequent and thorough schedule review to ensure patients are seen on-time as scheduled.
Greeting patients into the operatory.
Schedule next hygiene visit prior to escorting patients to the front.
Review treatment needs by showing the pictures and xrays and answer any questions prior to the patient seeing the doctor.
Perform routine dental cleaning and SCRP along with keeping the perio chart up to date.
Accurately review charts the day before the patient arrives and fill in the routing slip.
Teach patients appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health;
(e.g., tooth brushing, flossing and nutritional counseling).
Setup Hygiene or Op room prior to patient arriving.
Make sure that the assistants have updated the xrays and if not they might have to take the radiographs themselves.
Monitoring nitrous oxide if patient needs it.
Coronal Polishing necessary patients.
Applying fluoride.
Provides instrumentation by sterilizing and delivering instruments to treatment area.
Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
Review oral hygiene instructions with patient/parents.
Maintain care of units (flush lines, fill H20 bottles, place tablet in H20, change traps).
Creating hygiene patient bags.
Keep the office clean and tidy.
Education and Experience Requirements:
High School diploma or GED certificate.
Successful completion of a dental hygienist licensing program as per state guidelines.
Proven experience as a Dental Hygienist along with scaling and root planting experience.
Additional certification or training is an asset.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to interact effectively and professionally with persons from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, education, racial, ethnic and professional backgrounds.
Excellent communication and people skills.
Understanding of health & safety regulations.
Strong knowledge of computer programs such as MS Office.
Exceptional customer service skills.
Optional skills:
Experience or knowledge of Open Dental Software.
Have worked with assisted hygiene model.
