Responsibilities
Assist the dentist during various dental procedures, ensuring all necessary instruments and materials are prepared and available.
Maintain aseptic technique and adhere to infection control protocols to ensure patient safety.
Perform medical imaging tasks, including X-rays, while following safety guidelines.
Manage patient records using Open Dental software, ensuring accurate documentation of treatments and appointments.
Communicate effectively with patients regarding their treatment plans and provide education on oral hygiene practices.
Take vital signs as needed and assist in monitoring patients' comfort during procedures.
Support the dental receptionist with scheduling appointments and managing patient flow when necessary.
Keep the dental operatory clean and organized, ensuring all equipment is properly sterilized.
Skills
Proficient in dental assisting techniques with a strong understanding of dental terminology.
Knowledge of aseptic techniques and infection control measures in a clinical setting.
Experience with coding related to dental procedures is a plus.
Familiarity with Open Dental or similar dental practice management software.
Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients and team members.
Ability to take vital signs accurately and respond appropriately to patient needs.
Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
