Job Description
OverviewWe are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental practice. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care while ensuring the smooth operation of our dental office. This position requires a blend of clinical and administrative skills, making it essential for the candidate to be organized, compassionate, and knowledgeable about dental procedures and patient management.
Duties
Assist the dentist during various procedures, including examinations, fillings, and extractions.
Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment following aseptic techniques.
Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Manage patient appointments, including scheduling, confirming, and rescheduling as necessary.
Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) as directed by the dentist.
Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care.
Monitor vital signs when necessary to ensure patient safety during procedures.
Support pediatric dentistry needs with a gentle approach to young patients.
Assist with endodontic procedures by preparing materials and instruments as required.
Collaborate with the dental receptionist to ensure efficient office operations.
Requirements
Previous experience as a Dental Assistant is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided.
Knowledge of medical terminology relevant to dentistry is essential.
Familiarity with medical documentation practices is beneficial.
Understanding of pediatric dentistry principles is a plus.
Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment while maintaining professionalism.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in managing medical records and patient information.
Proficiency in aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety during procedures.
Excellent communication skills for interacting with patients and team members effectively.
Ability to assist in various dental specialties, including endodontics.
