Job Description
Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and professional Dental Hygienist to join our dental team! The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality dental hygiene care to patients, assisting in preventative oral care, and contributing to the overall success of our practice. As a dental hygienist, you will play a crucial role in educating patients about oral hygiene practices, performing cleanings, and supporting our dentists in diagnosing and treating dental conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care:
Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling, root planing, and polishing
Take and develop dental X-rays as required by the dentist
Examine patients' gums, teeth, and overall oral health, noting any issues such as cavities, gingivitis, or periodontitis
Administer local anesthesia or fluoride treatments as directed
Apply sealants and other preventive treatments
Patient Education:
Educate patients on proper brushing, flossing, and other oral hygiene techniques
Provide instructions on oral care products and lifestyle changes to improve long-term dental health
Record Keeping:
Document and maintain accurate patient records, including treatment plans, dental history, and progress notes
Update patient charts with any changes in their oral health
Collaboration:
Work closely with the dentist to discuss patient care plans, treatment options, and follow-up procedures
Assist the dentist with patient exams, including providing support with instruments and materials
Sterilization and Equipment Maintenance:
Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring that all dental instruments and equipment are properly sterilized and ready for use
Follow all safety protocols to ensure patient and staff safety
Required Qualifications:
Licensing/Certification:
Valid state license to practice dental hygiene
Current CPR and First Aid certification
Education:
Completion of Dental Hygiene program from an accredited institution
Key Skills and Attributes:
Strong knowledge of dental hygiene practices, tools, and equipment
Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain dental procedures and treatments to patients in a clear and reassuring manner
Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
Attention to detail and a commitment to providing high-quality patient care
Compassionate and patient-focused attitude, with a genuine interest in helping patients maintain optimal oral health
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $38.00 - $43.00 per hour
