Job Description
1. Patient Care
Prepare patients for dental procedures.
Provide comfort and reassurance during treatments.
Explain dental procedures and post-treatment care to patients.
2. Chairside Assistance
Assist the dentist during procedures by passing instruments and materials.
Keep the treatment area clear using suction devices.
Mix and prepare dental materials like fillings, impressions, and cements.
3. Office Management
Schedule and confirm patient appointments.
Maintain patient records and update charts.
Handle billing, payments, and insurance claims.
4. Sterilization and Infection Control
Sterilize dental instruments and equipment.
Disinfect treatment rooms between patients.
Follow OSHA and other safety protocols.
5. Laboratory Tasks
Take and develop dental X-rays.
Make temporary crowns or impressions.
Pour and trim models from dental impressions.
6. Inventory and Supplies
Monitor and restock dental supplies.
Maintain equipment and request repairs when needed.
7. Specialized Tasks
Polish teeth or apply fluoride treatments (if certified).
Place dental sealants.
Perform coronal polishing or other expanded duties, as allowed by state law.
