Job Description
Cambridge Dental Center in Cambridge, MN looking for Full-Time Dental Hygienist.
3 Day work week, Monday 7:30 am - 4:30 pm, Thursday 2:00 pm - 7:00 pm, and Friday 7:30 am - 3:00 pm
Must be licensed or soon to be licensed to apply. We are a fast pace, fun office with up-to-date technology. Many staff activities both in and outside of the office! We pride ourselves on serving our community for over 50 years!
Primary Responsibilities: Responsible for providing hygiene treatment to patients.
Specific Duties:
1. Patient Management
-Check on daily schedule w/receptionist, office manager, or computer-Work w/receptionist & office manager to schedule hygiene patients w/ efficiency-Carefully review patient health & dental history forms and update as necessary-Discuss daily schedule & patient issues at morning office meeting-Accurately chart each patientââ¬â¢s periodontal health-Perform thorough and gentle prophylaxis to patients-Perform scaling, root planning, and selective polishing for selective patients-Polish restorations-Administer local anesthetics & nitrous oxide, as allowed by certification status-Place medicaments/ use diode laser subgingivally (under the gumline) to aid in bacteria reduction for periodontal disease treatment-Provide radiographs for patients as prescribed by dentist-Apply cavity-preventative agents such as fluorides and sealants-Perform head and neck examinations-Communicate w/patients in an understandable and professional way-Check on patient comfort during treatment; help allay patient anxiety-Take accurate notes on the provided treatment-Teach proper oral hygiene techniques to patients-Counsel patients on proper nutrition and oral health-Accurately record treatment needed by patients and schedule time for them accordingly-Perform other tasks assigned by the dentist
2. Treatment Room Management & Sterilization
-Check hygiene room for cleanliness; make necessary changes-Check and turn on hygiene room equipment-Gather and review patient charts for the day-Clean hygiene room at the end of the day; turn off equipment-Maintain a supply inventory for hygiene treatment-Review, select, and submit orders for patient education materials for the practice-Submit supply orders to supplies administrator once a month or as necessary-Discard properly all disposable items from each visit-Assemble soiled instruments and place in sterilization area-Clean treatment room surfaces with disinfectant solution between every patient-Pre-soak soiled instruments by tray for proper sterilization-Load, activate, and vent the sterilization unit according to manufacturerââ¬â¢s directions
3. Records Management
-See that records are securely stored and handled in compliance with legal requirements, including theHIPAA privacy and security regulations in applicable-Accurately record medical and dental histories-Accurately file patient information-Arrange patient charts-Assist in the administration of the recall system
4. Office Participation
-Be an active participant in monthly & daily staff meetings-Promote team concept by interacting with others in the office-Help other areas of office, staff, or doctor when time permits
Personnel Requirements
1. Education/Experience -Must be licensed to practice in state and meet other applicable state requirements-Must have completed at least 2 years of post-secondary education from an accredited dental hygiene program-Experience providing prophylaxis and taking X-rays-Legible handwriting for notations in patient chart; computer skills desired with windows & dental software experience (EagleSoft & Kodak or similar systems)-Commitment to CE for career development
2. Interpersonal
-Good interpersonal skills to maintain effective rapport with patients, dentists, and coworkers-Effective verbal skills to communicate with patients and staff
3. Physical
-Must be able to physically perform tasks needed in day to day operations of a dental office and specifically in the job description
