Job Description

We are currently seeking a Dental Hygienist to join our outstanding team at our practice in Esko, Minnesota. As our new Dental Hygienist, you will play a vital role in treating our patients and promoting good oral health practices. We are looking for someone who is reliable, trustworthy, enthusiastic, kind, compassionate, and a team player.
At our practice, we are fully digital and paperless, and we have a great team and wonderful patients. We currently have one full time hygienist and one part time. We are looking for part time once or twice a week.
As our new Dental Hygienist, your duties will revolve around conducting initial patient screenings, cleaning teeth (e.g., removing plaque), and advising patients on oral health and preventative care. You will help our dentists decide on treatments for teeth or gum diseases and handle dental emergencies. It is essential that you have deep knowledge of relevant health and safety rules and a good eye for oral diseases and anomalies. We provide training every year for OSHA and infection control, and CPR training every two years. If you have recently graduated and need extra time to bring yourself up to speed, we will help you until you get there.
Responsibilities:

Ensure patients feel as comfortable as possible before their examination
Sterilize dental instruments properly
Conduct initial mouth screenings and check oral health history
Identify conditions like gingivitis, caries, or periodontitis
Clean and help protect patients’ teeth (e.g., remove plaque or apply fluoride)
Educate patients of all ages on proper teeth care (by demonstrating, for example, good brushing techniques)
Give instructions to patients after operations or other dental procedures
Take X-rays or dental impressions
Assist dentists with selecting appropriate treatments for various diseases (including oral cancer)
Maintain documentation and charts on each patient
Monitor supplies
Some assisting if required

Skills:

Proven experience as a Dental Hygienist or similar role
In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations in this profession (e.g., HIPAA)
Experience in preparing and maintaining dental equipment
Outstanding communication skills
A patient and friendly personality
Attention to detail
Stamina to meet the physical demands of the job
Diploma in Dental Hygiene
Valid license to practice

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $38.00 - $41.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10 – 20 per week
