Job Description

JOB Responsible for instructing assigned Dental Program courses. Provides direct supervision and assessment of progress of dental students in a classroom or laboratory classroom setting, each with an online component. Participate in program faculty meetings. Maintain college standards regarding professionalism, record keeping and instruction within the Dental department faculty team of the programs. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES Instructs students in a classroom, lab, learning center, or other setting as appropriate; teaching a variety of didactic, laboratory & clinical dental assisting and/or related courses.Advises students on matters of program goals and course requirements, scheduling office hours as required.Monitor patient care to ensure that patients receive safe and appropriate care.Assist with orientation, calibration and training of part-time clinical instructors.Assess the completeness and accuracy of student, patient and clinic records.Maintain confidentiality of information related to students, patients, faculty and staff.Monitor student, patient and instructor compliance with clinical policies and procedures.Serve as a role model for the dental assisting profession.Prepares, distributes and utilizes instructional support materials, including course syllabi, supplementary materials, instructional media, and other devices as appropriate.Develops, communicates, and utilizes a student assessment process and instruments which are related to the stated objectives of the course and program.Participates as a team member in departmental meetings and planning activities.Participates in curriculum planning and development as needed; participates in comprehensive program reviews, to include regular and systemic curriculum and program assessment to be used for continuous program and curricular improvement; participates in assessment of student learning at the course, program, and institutional levels. Serves as a member of college-wide standing committees, screening committees, and other related activities as assigned.Participates in the development of the quarterly class schedule and the annual departmental budget; initiates purchase requisitions, travel requests, and work orders as needed.Engages in regular professional growth activity based on the objectives established in an approved professional manner.Represents the program and the college to the community, business, public agencies, and other organizations in a professional manner.Responsible for departmental equipment: participates in periodic inventory and provides for the security of facilities and instructional materials as appropriate to the department.Performs other duties as assigned. SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION This is an adjunct faculty position for teaching part-time in the Dental department. Compensation is based on the 24-25 Adjunct Faculty Salary Schedule. The pool will remain open until June 2025 unless positions are no longer needed.
